El Dorado Social Security Attorney
What Social Security programs are available?
At The Law Office of Mike Angel, one of the first services that I provide
to you is straightforward and factual information regarding
Social Security benefits. There are many
myths surrounding Social Security that can confuse a person and make obtaining
benefits difficult to do. For those who are qualified, there are two separate
Social Security Administration programs.
Social Security Disability Insurance, or SSDI, applies if you have been
injured to the point of not being able to work at all.
Social Security Income (SSI) is a monthly income provided to individuals that have reached the age
of 65 or older, or are blind or disabled and who cannot qualify for SSDI.
As a professional Little Rock
Social Security disability lawyer, I can help determine if you
eligible for these programs and explain the steps that must be taken in order to
receive benefits. To get more information, call my and visit my pages below:

The Social Security Administration has strict guidelines in regards to
what "qualifies" as a disability. With so many SSD applications,
it has become increasingly difficult for an injured person to reach a
favorable outcome in the application process. You may be wondering how
SSA defines disability or if your injury qualifies. In order for a person's
injury to fit their strict definition of a "disability," it
must meet the following guidelines:
- You are unable to perform your previous occupation;
- You cannot perform other work because of your medical condition; and
- Your medical condition either must last for a minimum of one year or it
must be expected to last a year and/or result in death.
The Application Process
A widely-known fact is that getting approved for Social Security Disability
is a long and drawn-out process. The last thing you would want to do is
spend a lot of time pouring over paperwork and waiting, only to be denied
over an administrative error on your behalf. One of the reasons that the
process takes so long is because the Social Security Administration has
had a significant amount of fraudulent claims in the past. Such claims
have cost the SSA a great deal of money and time, exhausting their resources.
For this reason, it is absolutely essential that you file your Social
Security Claim properly without any errors if you want to have the greatest
chances of getting your application approved.
The majority of all Social Security disability applications are denied,
even in cases where the injured person has a strong case. In fact, the
SSA may be so bold as to deny a valid claim in hopes that you will give
up and fail to pursue an appeal. Since so many claims are denied at the
initial stage, the SSA allows just 60 days for you to appeal their decision.
Once you appeal, your claim will enter what is referred to as the Reconsideration
stage of the process. Of those appeals in reconsideration, the SSA will
reject more than 85% of them; however, you have the right to request a
hearing in front of an Administrative Law Judge. This hearing is extremely
crucial to the outcome of your case and having a competent attorney can
substantially increase your chances of being approved during this stage.
Nearly 75% of those who apply for Social Security benefits are denied the
first time around. I've successfully worked in this field for over
2 decades and know why claims are so commonly turned down and what can
be done to greatly decrease the chances of this happening to you. I work
with you to gather all of the information the Social Security Administration
needs to approve your claim and then ensure your claim is correctly
If, for whatever reason, your claim is denied, there is a 4 step process
that can be followed to
appeal the denial. I am intimately familiar with each of these steps, how the process works
and how to resolve a denial in a favorable manner. Those who come to me
do so because they need help in life. I am proud to assist and use all
of my resources and experience towards that goal.
